Rain Delay Questions

Postby Trogdor79 on Sat Sep 12, 2009 10:45 pm

As the Rangers-Mariners game is in rain delay in the 9th inning, I'm seriously doubting play will resume. This brings up some questions.

(1) Is it possible for a major league game to be suspended and resumed on a future date? If so, is that just if the teams haven't played enough innings to make it an "official game"?

(2) Are there any rules that govern if a visiting team bats in the top half of the inning, the home team gets to bat in the bottom half of the inning before the game is called?

1. yes

2. it depends on inning and score. say the game is scoreless thru 7, the the visitors score in the top of the 8th, then it rains, before the bottom half. those runs get wiped out.
