Rangers Acquire Edwar Ramirez
By Tim Dierkes [March 9 at 12:32pm CST]

The Rangers acquired reliever Edwar Ramirez from the Yankees for cash considerations, tweets Jack Curry. Ramirez had been designated for assignment on February 28th to clear a spot for Chan Ho Park.

Ramirez, 29 this month, whiffed 10.6 per nine in his 98.3 career big league innings with the Yankees. Walks and home runs were a problem, though not nearly as much in recent Triple A stints.

Jesse Sanchez reports that he has been added to the teams 40 man roster. I'm assuming taking the place of the key to the entire freaking season Khalil Green?
Sadly, Gatorade has taken Gatorade Tiger off the market. It seems that pieces of Tiger are popping up everywhere!

This guy is listed at 6' 3", 150. That can't be right.

From 2005 to 2008 he didn't have an ERA above 1.45 and had a sizzling strikeout rate between 13.0 and 17.8.

I know we didn't give up anything, but do we really need another reliever at this point? They must see something in the guy and want to give him a tryout.

It doesn't hurt. He put up some freakish numbers in the minors.

He could be this years O'Day.

I hope so, it does seem like a tryout kind of move with no downside.

According to Evan Grant, yes it is.

PHOENIX - Looks like after a brief rain delay, the Rangers and A's are about to get started. According to Rangers PR guru and amateur meteorologist John Blake, "there is a window." So when we do start playing here, I'll be blogging updates just beyond the jump. I'd estimate start time at about 2:30 CST.
