REALLY depends on the price. Heard he's never looked better as a pro....Still don't know if I like.
I give it a solid, meh.
Agreed on the price... but he has upside at 24 years old and would be under team control for 3 more years. Could do a lot worse for your #5 rotation guy
According to Jason Cole (I don't have a source, it was just a tweet a while back) Porcello's stuff had made a noticable jump starting last year in comparison to earlier, and that he is looking even better now (all accompanied by a correlating drop of ERA, FIP, xFIP, and SIERA, HR/9, and an increase in K/9 and GB% every year since 2010). He's a groundball pitcher who doesn't walk anybody and misses Matt Harrison-esque bats, with the possibility for more if he can improve his slider to go with the nasty change.
His silly sinker movement on the 2-seamer to go with that velocity makes it pretty darn fun and confirms what a lot of the scouting types were saying about him. No telling whether that velocity increase will be similar to Holland's in the second half of 2011, where he was like 3 mph above is usual fastball and where he came back the next year throwing at his regular speed.
I'd definitely be down to trade for Rick Porcello. It certainly wouldn't take that much, hopefully: a Buckel type + some lottery prospect.

IMO it comes down to the cost of trading for him and what the scouts tell you about his stats improving with some gold glove defense behind him like Beltre and Andrus than what he had to endure in Detroit.
