Buckel and Villanueva are a bit too high I think, but not obscenely so. Good list
According to Jamey, some in the organization rate Villanueva as high as Olt in the same way Moreland was rated highly within the organization when Smoak was still on the team.
Buckel is too high, I agree, but he is the next toolsy-ish guy with good control after Erlin and Weiland so it does make sense that BA is giving him some love.
Interestingly again from the BA ranking we found this is “Not your fathers Rangers”. We used to find the whole Rangers projected lineup are filled with top prospects even when the Rangers farm system wasn’t that good. Now we have a top 3 farm system and not many top prospects projected into the lineup.

That is a very interesting situation. We have a lineup filled with all-star-level talent and a farm system ready to pump in more and they are blocked. Must be nice to have that talent when we go trading.
Four Rangers prospects among game's best
Profar, Perez, Olt and Martin all rated highly by MLB.com
Jurickson Profar Rank: 7
statistically speaking: Profar’s second half stats were improved over his first half in 2011 in pretty much every category: batting average (.302-.269), on-base percentage (.402-.378), slugging(.495-.490) and, of course, OPS (.897-.868).
Scouting report: As a youth in Curacao, Profar interested many as a pitcher, but he always preferred playing shortstop. He’s brought his plus arm to the position and that’s just part of what will make him a top-notch defender at the premium position. He’s no slouch with the bat, either. He’s a switch-hitter and looks good from both sides. With an advanced idea at the plate, he should hit for average and could grow into a bit more power. His speed doesn’t grade out as plus, but it plays up because of his baserunning instincts, making him a threat to steal. His makeup and baseball IQ are off the charts.
Upside potential: An exciting All-Star shortstop who makes highlight reels regularly as well as excites with his legs and bat.
Profar is one of four Rangers to make the top 100. He is joined by pitcher Martin Perez (No. 29), infielder Mike Olt (No. 43) and outfielder Leonys Martin (No. 89).
1 Bryce Harper of, Nationals Age: 19. ETA: 2012.
He should get to the majors as a teenager; settle in and enjoy it.
2 Matt Moore lhp, Rays Age: 22. ETA: 2012.
He makes it look so easy, and he's so good he'll make David Price a No. 2 starter.
3 Mike Trout of, Angels Age: 20. ETA: 2012.
His signing scout, Greg Mohrhardt, has since been promoted to Angels crosschecker.
4 Yu Darvish rhp, Rangers Age: 25. ETA: 2012.
It's hard to moderate expectations for proven Japanese ace, but he should definitely surpass the Dice-K bar.
5 Julio Teheran rhp, Braves Age: 21. ETA: 2012.
There's absolutely no link between his last name and Darvish's Iranian heritage.
6 Jesus Montero c, Mariners Age: 22. ETA: 2012.
He should face less pressure replacing Miguel Olivo rather than Jorge Posada.
7 Jurickson Profar ss, Rangers Age: 19. ETA: 2013
He should beat out golf, cheesy theme parks as Myrtle Beach's top 2012 attraction.
31 Martin Perez lhp, Rangers Age: 21. ETA: 2013.
His stuff is special enough that he ranks 31st in spite of a career 20-24, 4.22 record, including a 6.43 ERA in Triple-A last year.
43 Mike Olt 3b, Rangers Age: 23. ETA: 2013.
See, not all the Rangers' top prospects are international signees..
79 Leonys Martin of, Rangers Age: 24. ETA: 2012.
He's likely good enough to beat out Julio Borbon, David Murphy in Texas, but will he be a star or just solid?
100 Christian Villanueva 3b, Rangers Age: 20. ETA: 2014.
Best Hickory Crawdads third baseman since Jose Bautista in 2002.
14 Yoenis Cespedes of, Athletics Age: 26. ETA: 2012.
Athletics hope he works out better than their last blockbuster Cuban, Ariel Prieto.
30 Drew Pomeranz lhp, Rockies Age: 23. ETA: 2012.
Walk rate keeps dropping, from college (4.38 BB/9) to minors (3.74) to majors (2.45).
