The defense has been sloppy. Mazara missing a catch even I could make was difficult to watch. The offense has been leaving guys on base and the bullpen in general has been far from elite. Dyson is getting all the heat right now, but he isn't their only problem.

    • In spite of that, though, the Rangers could easily be tied with the Astros at 8 and 4 if Dyson makes one hold and three saves.

Actually, this is completely false. Dyson has been their only problem in a bullpen that would rank fifth in ERA in the AL without him. With any old relief pitcher with about a 3.50 ERA instead of him they would be doing much better. Their starting pitching ranks fourth in ERA and their offense ranks first in runs scored. So, no, you are wrong. The problem can be isolated to Dyson's performance so far.

Nothing else looms as much of a problem at all for a championship team. In particular, their runs scoring is so good that only the Yankees come close to them. Without Dyson, that would overshadow their top third pitching staff and likely give them a top tier record at this point instead of a bottom tier record.

I don't know why Banister thought it was a good idea to send Dyson out there in the ninth inning yesterday instead of Leclerc. Unless there was something wrong with Leclerc who did not pitch the night before when Dyson did pitch the night before, it made no sense whatsoever.

To put all this into perspective, if you consider Houston to be our main competition, both our starting pitching and run production tops their and its not that close. Furthermore, if we remove Dyson's record, our bullpen has a better ERA than theirs. If you replaced Dyson with some guy with a 3.50 ERA our bullpen would still outrank Houston's in ERA by a couple of notches. And, we actually have a guy, Kela, who could replace Dyson tomorrow and likely solve our only problem.

So, yeah, it's really easy to se that Dyson really is their only problem.
