  • Double plays w/ a runner on 3rd

Angels scored a run on a double play w/ 1 out on a fly ball when the runner left 1st base and was caught off the bag.

I always thought it didnt matter if the runner from 3rd crossed homeplate prior to the 3rd out if the last out was a result of a force out.

Am i wrong on that understanding?

And if im right, why did the out at 1st not end the innings w/o the runner on 3rd scoring?

its not actually a force out cause it was the runners choice to run without being forced to run
